Terms

These are the terms for everything you can sign up for or buy from The Complete Bass Player: free memberships, monthly memberships, private lessons, and one-time purchases like the course.

I may update this page from time to time. If something changes that affects what you are already paying for, I will let you know by email before it takes effect.

Memberships and subscriptions

This section covers anything you sign up for on a recurring basis, including The Studio and weekly private lessons.

Billing. Your first payment is due when you sign up, and your card is billed on the same date each month after that. All prices are in US dollars. Your membership renews automatically until you cancel it.

Access. You have access to whatever your membership includes for as long as it is active.

Cancelling. You can cancel from your account at any time. There is no contract and no cancellation fee. Cancellations need to be made at least 10 days before your renewal date. Inside of 10 days, your next month is already set, and your cancellation takes effect at the renewal after that.

When you cancel, your membership stays active through the end of the month you have already paid for. Partial months are not refunded.

Free memberships. The Vault is free. There is nothing to pay and nothing to cancel, and you can stop receiving emails about it any time using the unsubscribe link.

Price changes. If I change the price of a membership, current members will hear about it by email well before it affects their billing.

Private lessons

Everything in the section above applies to weekly lessons. What follows is specific to them.

What you are signing up for. Weekly private lessons are a monthly membership, not a package of individual lessons. You reserve a standing weekly time that stays yours, and you are billed once a month for it.

Over a year that works out to about 48 lessons. Some months have four lessons and some have five, and there are a few weeks a year when I am not teaching. The monthly price already accounts for that, so it stays the same from month to month.

There are two lengths, 30 minutes a week and 60 minutes a week. Current prices are on the private lessons page.

Your lessons are scheduled out ahead of you on the calendar. As long as your membership is active, more lessons keep getting added, so your time is always reserved.

Your weekly time. Your lesson time is held for you each week whether or not you use it. That is what the membership pays for.

If you need to move a lesson, you can do it yourself from your account. You will see my open times and can pick a new one. You just need to do it at least 24 hours before your lesson starts.

You can also cancel a single lesson from your account, again with at least 24 hours notice. Cancelling frees that time up, which sometimes lets another student use it for a lesson they had to move.

A lesson you move should be used within 30 days of its original date. If you move a lesson and then miss the new time, it is not replaced.

Inside of 24 hours, lessons cannot be moved or cancelled, and a lesson that is missed without notice is not made up. I am holding that time for you, and once it is that close I usually cannot fill it.

If something serious comes up, email me. I would rather hear about it than have you just miss a lesson.

Time I am not teaching. I teach about 48 weeks a year. I take time off for holidays and a break during the year, and I will let you know well ahead of any week I am not teaching. Your monthly price already accounts for those weeks.

If I have to cancel a lesson for any other reason, I will either find you another time that week or add a lesson to the end of your schedule. You do not lose lessons because of my schedule.

When you cancel. You keep every lesson in the month you have already paid for. After that the remaining lessons come off the calendar and your time opens up for someone else.

Ending lessons. I reserve the right to end lessons if the arrangement is not working. If I do, I will refund any lessons you have paid for and not used.

Lessons online. Lessons are taught online. You will need:

  • Your bass and a tuner
  • A laptop, phone or tablet with a camera
  • An internet connection good enough for video
  • Somewhere you can play out loud

Headphones help a lot with echo if you have them. It also helps to prop your device so I can see your hands and not just your face.

Lessons start and end at the scheduled time. If you are running late, we will use whatever time is left.

One-time purchases

The course. If The Complete Bass Player Course is not right for you, email me within 30 days of buying it and I will refund you. No questions asked.

Single lessons. Pay as you go lessons are available in 30 and 60 minute lengths. The same 24 hour rule applies: you can move the lesson yourself up to 24 hours before it starts. Inside of 24 hours, the lesson is used and is not refunded.
